Race history

The Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos is the race that opens the three-year-old challenge in Argentine racing each year. It is traditionally run in September at Palermo on dirt over 1,600 metres. Alongside the Gran Premio Jockey Club (San Isidro, October), Gran Premio Nacional (Palermo, November) and Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (San Isidro, December), it forms the Quadruple Crown — the classic series that has historically defined the outstanding generations of Río de la Plata racing.
